Every day with Benji is an adventure.
Some mornings, he’s like a teenager—bleary-eyed, stretching slowly, not quite ready to greet the world. Other mornings, he drapes himself across my legs like he owns them, reminding me that he is present in all things… and that I should absolutely worship his love.
And I do.
Morning Moments That Matter
There’s something about those quiet morning moments that feels sacred. Before the emails, before the to-do lists, before the day asks anything of me—it’s just us.
Benji’s snuggles aren’t just routine; they’re grounding. He checks in, makes sure I’m there, and settles in like it’s his job to keep me connected to the moment. And honestly, he’s right.
How can I not pause for that?
A Different Kind of Love
Nothing makes me feel more loved than those simple gestures—his head resting on me, his soft sighs, the way he follows me from room to room just to be near.
It’s not complicated. It’s not rushed. It just is.
And in a world that constantly asks for more, faster, louder… Benji reminds me to slow down and receive what’s already here.
Giving It Right Back
Of course, that kind of love deserves to be returned. And it is. Every day.
In the time I set aside for him. In the way I pay attention to what he needs. In the meals I make sure are fresh, nourishing, and made with care.
Because loving him isn’t just about cuddles, it’s about showing up in the details.
A Simple Start to the Day
One of my favorite ways to start Benji’s day is with something warm and homemade. Nothing fancy—just real food that supports him and makes me feel good about what I’m giving him.
Benji’s Morning Bowl: Ground Chicken with Sweet Potato & Spinach
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 small sweet potato, peeled and diced
- ½ cup fresh spinach, chopped
- Splash of water or low-sodium dog friendly broth
Instructions:
- In a pan, cook the ground chicken over medium heat until fully cooked.
- In a separate pot, steam or boil the sweet potato until soft.
- Add the sweet potato to the chicken and stir to combine.
- Toss in the spinach and let it wilt for 1–2 minutes.
- Add a splash of water or broth if needed for moisture.
- Let cool completely before serving.
Simple, wholesome, and made with love, just how Benji likes it.
The Gift of a New Day
Every morning is a reset. A quiet beginning. A chance to move through the day a little softer, a little more present.
And if it starts with a dog stretched across your legs, reminding you that love is right here, right now…
Then you’re already doing it right.
