To those who celebrate—Happy Easter.
A Quiet Day, Just the Way We Like It
Benji and I are keeping things simple this year. The weather isn’t exactly screaming spring (hello, southeast Michigan), but around here that can change by the afternoon anyway.
It’s a quiet day filled with the best kind of companionship. Benji will follow his usual routine—eat, nap, eat again, and then nap like it’s his full-time job. Honestly, I might join him. There may even be a little Star Trek movie marathon in the mix, because nothing says cozy Sunday like getting lost in another universe for a few hours.
The Importance of Slowing Down
No matter how you celebrate Easter—or even if you don’t—Sundays still hold that energy of renewal.
Even with everything I have going on, I’ve learned that if Benji and I don’t take time to reset, we feel it. We get off. A little cranky. A little tired. Not quite ourselves.
So I protect this time. No distractions. No rushing. Just space to breathe, recharge, and enjoy the quiet moments. It’s not about doing more—it’s about doing less, intentionally.
Sunday Traditions That Stay With You
Sundays have always meant slow mornings and comforting dinners for me. The kind of meals that filled the house with warmth growing up. Those traditions stay with you.
Even now, I keep that feeling close. I still treat Sundays as a day of rest, even if life looks a little different these days. There’s something grounding about honoring that rhythm—good food, a slower pace, and a sense of home.
Our Simple Easter Meal
Our Easter plans aren’t anything elaborate, and that’s exactly how I like it.
I’ll be making a cozy dinner—ham, kielbasa, pierogies, a vegetable, and of course, my homemade Easter bread. It’s simple, familiar, and full of comfort.
Benji, of course, will have his own special meal (because we don’t skip holidays around here).
Benji’s Easter Bowl: Ground Chicken with Carrots & Peas
Here’s a simple, wholesome meal I’ll be making for him:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground chicken
- ½ cup chopped carrots
- ½ cup peas (fresh or frozen)
- Splash of water or dog friendly broth
Instructions:
- In a pan, cook the ground chicken over medium heat until fully done.
- Add carrots and cook for a few minutes until they begin to soften.
- Stir in peas and a splash of water or broth.
- Let everything simmer for 5–7 minutes until veggies are tender.
- Cool completely before serving.
Simple, nourishing, and Benji-approved.
However You Spend It…
Whether you’re surrounded by family, friends, or just enjoying a quiet day like we are, I hope you take a moment to slow down.
Savor your Sunday. Rest a little longer. Eat something comforting.
And if you happen to be spending it with a slightly needy, very loved pup—then you’re doing it just right.
