Did you know that hanging out with your pets and engaging in physical interactions, such as petting or playing with them, promotes relaxation? I love my snuggle time with Benji, probably more than he does. He is so needy and a precious, delicate flower, but I need him too!
I wake up, brush my teeth, start the coffee, take Benji out, shower, and then he knows it is snuggle time. Benji waits for me and gives me that look. Dog owners, you know that look. That melty, puppy dog eye look. It gets me every time! You must pet me and love me now!
Snuggle time is my favorite part of my day with my sweet boy.
One of Benji’s Christmas presents was a pet massager I saw on an Instagram post. I knew he would love it. He was over the moon when I took it out of the box. Yes, I buy him presents and yes, he understands they are for him, and he will do his best to open them.
Our quality time snuggles are the highest level ever! He’s always had his morning quality time. Who doesn’t love that!?
Why do I do this? Why do Benji and I have our special time? I want to create a connection with my dog and have him trust me with everything. I also use this time to look for anything out of the ordinary.
What is out of the ordinary? I feel for anything odd. I check for lumps or things that may be painful. I check his ears, his teeth, and paws. It allows me to notice anything that may be a problem. This whole process is calming and relaxing for me as well! Another perk is that they get used to the gentle touch, which can make it easier for the vet when examining your dog. As for me, I get tail thumps and that look he gives me melts my heart. If I could find a man that looks at me like Benji does, well? Who am I kidding, I am just the keeper of the treats and belly rubs.
I found the massager on Amazon and purchased it immediately, along with many other items for Christmas from Santa and his stocking stuffers. Yes, all my dogs celebrated Christmas with me. Benji is my family, and I include him in all my holiday celebrations!
Some things to watch for:
- Make sure you are not near ears, tuck-ups, lips, or private areas. You don’t want any pinching!
- Be careful around the eyes and thin-skinned areas.
- Always have the unit charged (It comes with a USB cord for easy charging). You don’t want to run out of battery.
- Do not let your dog lick the rotating heads. You probably don’t want to lick them either!
- It does make a weird noise. If your dog is uncomfortable with the noise, you can put cotton in their ears or get noise-cancelling ear socks or earmuffs. (The earmuffs are great for dogs that are sensitive to loud noises such as thunder or fireworks). Remember to take the cotton out when you are done.
